Volunteers

Community Projects North Devon offers a variety of volunteering placements.

Volunteering is so important that Chancellor Gordon Brown designated 2005 as the Year of the Volunteer.

Celebrities who understand the importance of volunteering include Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes who encouraged runners in the Flora London Marathon 2005 to add meaning to their 26.2 miles by raising money for the NSPCC. She volunteers as Patron of the NSPCC's running team.

Sir Elton John believes so passionately about volunteering that he gives his time as a Patron of Volunteering England. He is also personally involved in the Elton John Aids Foundation.

Benefits of volunteering with CPND

  • Have fun!
  • Enjoy a variety of challenging and rewarding experiences.
  • Meet new people.
  • Connect with your local community, while gaining new skills. Did you know that 70% of employers would hire a candidate with volunteering experience over someone who has never volunteered?
  • We will also provide relevant training and support in order to make your volunteering experience as effective and enjoyable as possible.
  • Grow and develop personally while helping disadvantaged people who really need your support.
  • Community Projects North Devon will pay various expenses to ensure you are not out of pocket while volunteering.
  • As a volunteer, you will automatically receive our regular newsletter, Pieces, to keep you informed about the various activities that CPND is involved in. We encourage our volunteers to share their stories and experiences for publication in the newsletter.
  • Improve your health. Did you know that It has been medically proven that 'doing good' can give you a heightened sense of well being, a stronger immune system and a speedier recovery from surgery!

Take the first steps towards becoming a CPND volunteer. We will be glad to arrange for you to visit us, to give you a first look around at what we are doing, and to have a cup of coffee and a chat about which of our projects would best suit you.
