Grow@Jigsaw Horticulture Project

A growing space for individuals to develop skills and take control of their lives through horticulture

During 2009 Community Projects North Devon was successful in launching the Grow@Jigsaw Project, based at the commercial glasshouses at Victoria Park, Bideford. The project will provide training and real work experience for vulnerable and isolated people within a horticulture and food production environment.

Grow@Jigsaw will initially operate for 2-3 days a week, but we aim to continue our fundraising efforts to enable 5 day opening from the summer of 2010.

We are currently looking for voluntary support for the project and would welcome hearing from anyone who might be able to help in the greenhouses or in selling our produce at market. If you would like any further information, or are able to support us in any way, please call Kym on 01271 314264, or email kym@cpnd.org

What next for Grow@Jigsaw

Over the course of the next few years we hope to develop Grow@Jigsaw into a viable Social Enterprise – that means that the project will generate most of the income it needs by some form of trading i.e. selling produce, paid placements at the project, winning contract work, delivering training.

However, in the short term the project requires conventional charitable funding from trusts, grant making bodies and individuals to help secure its future.

We need to raise funds to
· Provide a DDA compliant toilet
· Provide funds to allow us to open at least five days a week
· Recruit volunteers to help sell our produce.
· Secure open land growing space for summer crops.
