CLASS exists to provide support for learning disabled people living independently in the local community.
Janet and Alf, seen in the photographs, live in their own homes and are able to achieve a quality of life and maximum independence through the services that CPND’s CLASS project offers to them.
Janet has recently taken a course in painting and has been able to express herself through this new medium.
CLASS enables service users to address their challenges and barriers in order to maximise the opportunities that life offers them.

- enabling service users to reach achievable levels of independence with security
- enabling service users to play an active role in their local community
- offering work experience or training opportunities at CPND’s Jigsaw project
- providing appropriate levels of support for day to day living requirements
- providing support for a wide range of service users needs
CLASS offers its service to anyone requiring support to live in the community.

Relaxation is as important to Learning Disabled people as it is to all other people. As an additional service, staff members at CLASS have been able to arrange various trips away from North Devon for all its service users.
Two years ago a trip to Edinburgh was enjoyed by CLASS service users, and more recently 18 of our Learning Disabled residents went with staff on a trip to York. Accommodation was provided by the University of York. The trip included daily outings to a variety of York’s tourist spots, including the Minster, various museums, and boat trips. The trip was a great success as the photographs below show.
